Motor Case repairs

Here we came across a broken boss on the kicker cover side of the case that had been drilled out and tapped previously to accommodate a foot peg that had seen some trauma. The hole breaking its way into the transmission cavity needed to be restored and strengthened for use.
You can see the deep plug machined to fit the offending area in (pic 3). It also keeps the proper deck height which then was welded inside the transmission cavity and out for sufficient strength and durability.

The timing plug hole was also repaired by milling the existing stripped out plug hole oversize, then machining a piece to be lightly pressed in to the case and welded on the inside, drilled and tapped to accept the stock timing plug. good as new,...maybe even better.  :)

Slinging Lead with Metal Master Les Dunham

Yesterday I had the pleasure of working and another lesson with metal master Les Dunham! One of the truly old school great masters of metal manipulation.
I stand humbly in his shadow and am proud to have the opportunity to be his "grasshopper".

Here you see Les leading in the various bungs and filler neck on a Led Sled oil tank for Jaimie Jef's sportster custom.

P.S. Factoid: Les began learning how to work with the torch and lead when he was 10 years old.
no worries, there won't be a test on this later. :)
Have a great day

Adams Long Bike

Here, I widen Adam's frame to accept an early brake configuration, align the rear chain, and center the rear wheel in the frame for true tracking.
